Promoting EFL Students’ Abilities in Writing Definition Paragraph through Blogging Activities

 ABSTRACT
This study is aimed at developing blogging activities to promote EFL students’ writing abilities in producing definition paragraph. The classroom action research was conducted in cyclic activities–planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting on the data gained from the instructional process–which runs into two cycles, each of which covers three meetings.

Developing Materials of Listening Comprehension for the English Department Students

ABSTRACT
This study was designed to develop appropriate listening materials based on the needs of users namely the teachers and the students of the English Department of IAIN Palangka Raya. The Research and Development (R&D) design was applied in this study. The research subjects were four listening instructors and the first-semester students (freshmen) who encountered fourteen meetings of this on-going semester.

Enhancing Writing Skill through Writing Process Approach

ABSTRACT
The study is aimed at developing the implementation of Writing Process Approach (WPA) to enhance the students’ skill in writing essay. The study employed Classroom Action Research. The subjects of the study were 15 university students enrolled in the writing class. The data were gained from writing task, observation and field notes. The findings show that the implementation of WPA with the proper model procedures developed can enhance the students’ skill in writing essay.

Implementation of Intensive-Extensive Reading Strategy to Improve Reading Comprehension

The subjects of the study were 32 students of the second semester of English Education Study Program of STAIN Palangka Raya in the 2010/2011 academic year. ABSTRACT
This study is aimed at developing mind mapping strategy to improve the tenth-year students’ writing ability at Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Mambaus Sholihin Gresik and focused on solving the problem of how the students generate and organize ideas for writing a topic. The design of the study is collaborative classroom action research. Both the researcher and his collaborator work together in cyclic activities – planning, implementing, observing and reflecting on the data gained from the teaching and learning process – which runs into three cycles, each of which covers four meetings.
